BibleWorks 9

The main software tool for biblical studies at New College is BibleWorks which can be found on all the machines in the Open Access labs on site. There are occasional training sessions offered on using it (so keep eyes/ears open), but do experiment with it if you wish.

There are some freeware alternatives for the PC world: try either the Crosswire/Sword Project package, or e-Sword. Both give basic search facilities for English, Hebrew, and Greek Bibles. The Divinity website provides a full list of alternative software and online original-language biblical texts and helps.

Vocabulary

You can learn the vocab from Seow's Grammar using this Excel package (the site it lives on is here). Be warned, however, that you will need the SIL Ezra truetype font for the Hebrew used in this spreadsheet; it is available here, where you can also get installation instructions.

Fonts

There is a guide to fonts for biblical studies students on the New College website. It includes information about Unicode fonts, as well as links for downloading these freeware resources.
